About The Living Room

Located at 1 Pico Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90401, The Living Room operates as a lounge bar serving Santa Monica in California. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

If you were expecting a restaurant, market or cafe and landed on a listing in this group, it usually means the original source listed the business under an unusual or mixed category rather than a plain food label. Contact information, address and hours are still pulled from the same public data used across Santa Monica and California, so they should be accurate even where the category is not a perfect fit. Because this group spans everything from medical clinics to auto shops to gift stores, there is no single etiquette or norm that applies across it; treat each listing on its own terms and call ahead if the category alone does not tell you what you need to know.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is 11 am–11 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (310) 458-0030. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is shuttersonthebeach.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 39 reviews, which is a strong result for a lounge bar in Santa Monica and suggests consistent service.

Santa Monica is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Santa Monica follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Went there on Mother’s Day and they decided to shrink the menu while elevating the price. Had to wait 20 min before some very rude waiter to even show up. One tagliatelle with no protein and no sides costs $85, and they call it a “special treat to mothers”.

The service we experienced was pretty bad: not friendly, and pretty much nonexistent. Had some small breakfast&coffee here with a colleague. Ended up leaving a lower-than-normal tip (though still 18$). I am not sure why the service was so underwhelming. Perhaps it was typical. Perhaps it was because we were not the typical guests. (We are comfortably poor, being professors, which are infamously indistinguishable from homeless.)

I enjoyed some dessert and coffee with a beautiful view. Everything was just as it should be; the staff were kind, the service was fast, and the desserts were equally delicious. I can’t say anything about the main dishes, but I’m sure they’re tasty too.

Got a recommendation from the local next to me on the airport shuttle that The Living Room balcony was the best place for drinks & people-watching. And it absolutely delivered. We spent an amazing couple hours with cocktails, smashing through the charcuterie board watching the sun go down over Santa Monica.

Nice bar on the first level of the Shutters By The Sea. Service is little slow. Great collection of cocktails and wines. One can get views of the beach. Very nice place for a nightcap. Nautical ambience, fun to be in the Living Room.
